President's Message
In FY 05-06 Discover Pacific Beach has pushed out many boundaries that have begun to reshape the way Pacific Beach works. Neighborhood relationships
have been reformatted and reorganized and neighborhood staples have been
overturned. Discover Pacific Beach has worked to forge relationships between
neighborhood groups such as the Pacific Beach Town Council and Planning
Committee. These partnerships are fast yielding results even though they have
been rocky. From the re-envisioning of the Pacific Beach Block Party and the
successful opposition of the sitting of the Downtown Detox facility Discover
Pacific Beach has forged new partnerships and strengthened the community.
Some of these changes have been difficult. As Discover Pacific Beach continues toward its ten year anniversary year we must be cognizant of those relationships that still need to be refashioned.
We must move forward with our plans large and small and use our projects to unite our friends.
From the development of an upscale neighborhood magazine and the installation of neighborhood
trash receptacles through to the creation of a parking structure and Maintenance Assessment District we must use our ongoing projects to re-forge the relationships and strengthen new
partnerships.
In FY06-07 we will see the celebration of the anniversary of Discover Pacific Beach. With a strong
volunteer base and an involved leadership I know this will be a year in which many things are
accomplished. I pledge to ensure that as well as continuing our mission we continue to build the fabric of community services groups in Pacific Beach.

Discover Pacific Beach’s board and committee structure follow a similar model as a traditional nonprofit
organization with the exception of the Organization Committee which serves and both an executive committee and project committee.
